SUMMARY
The application of asset management models in cities has been made possible thanks to government commitment, a participatory culture, information transparency, communication, delegation of authority, and multifunctional teams. Decisions and results from using models, methodologies, standards, and norms such as ISO 55001 (Asset Management), ISO 41001 (Facility Management), and UNE-178303 (City Asset Management System – Smart Cities) have reflected improvements in how countries generate value for their customers. This highlights the importance of asset management for smart cities in mobility, urban planning, energy, water, gas, and telecommunications, and their IoT connectivity.
