ABSTRACT
Answering the question: How can IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and Industry 4.0 support asset management performance? And in what way can digital transformation aid asset management, ensuring it is not just a passing trend? These are the key questions that the model proposal developed in this work aims to address. In a global market, IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) – Big Data – Artificial Intelligence – Industry 4.0 represents an undeniable source of competitiveness for industries. Through digitalization and the use of connected platforms, they offer solutions better tailored to demand while enabling cost reduction and shorter production times in industry. Using collaborative methods and models to foster innovation, combining flexibility and efficiency in processes, achieving shorter response times, and ensuring long-term sustainability are just some of the aspects that have been intensely worked on for years.
The main challenge lies, once again, with people; their integration with technologies and processes to deliver the solutions the market demands under requirements such as ISO 55001 Asset Management and other sector-specific regulatory aspects. This transformation implies a significant mindset change, which requires a corresponding effort in leadership.
This work aims to propose a model that supports digital transformation (Industry 4.0) specifically oriented towards the challenge that new technologies and demands pose for managing our assets. The model intends to address trends and approaches regarding IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) – Big Data – Artificial Intelligence technologies, Industry 4.0, and propose an implementation methodology that considers the multiplier effect when used as a basis for developing new services for asset management. This work is based on a study involving 180 industry experts and asset managers.
